Home stretch wrap up exercise...
Here we read a giant book about learning with purpose by crafting performance based learning objectives. After browsing the book, we proceed to the Sky Cinema to watch a film, answer the riddle box sufficiently to win a prize, and we're finished! Amazing experience and well designed. Who will forget the Who, What, and How of this sim in Second life?

Who, What, How of Performance Objectives...

Who, What, How of Performance Objectives...
Third base brings us to the differences in performance objectives being displayed based on circumstances. There are many ways to demonstrate learning like there are different ways to explain, climb, wrestle, and run.

Pitfall challenge reinforces the right vocabulary...

Pitfall challenge reinforces the right vocabulary...
Great game recreation in Second Life that reinforces the right performance objective vocabulary and strengthens our understanding of the counterfeit words that we "think" describe targeted behaviors but are not really observable and therefore cannot be assessed for learning. Choose a wrong word and fall thru the floor into a shark tank! Try again until you get to the other side. :-)

Second base explains difference between good and bad performance objectives...

Second base explains difference between good and bad performance objectives...
At first base we watched the classic Abbot and Costello "Who's on first base" movie short which reinforces how easy we can confuse learners and ourselves without clear performance objectives. Here on second base we learn the vocabulary of good performance objective words that target behaviors in terms of actions (performance) that can be objectively observed, verified,a nd evaluated by a third party. The cool part is how "Counterfeit" terms (real verbs) can mislead the instructional designer to think they are creating good lesson plans when in fact, the results cannot be independently witnessed (seen or heard) for evaluation. After reviewing these terms, we play the Pitfall Challenge!

Here I am in my baseball uniform ready to step up to the plate and take a swing. As I run each base, I teleport to a learning exercise that builds my understanding and constructs my knowledge of integrating good performance objectives into my lesson plans.

Here, participants watch a brief video and then answer questions offered by a bot. With enough questions answered correctly, permission to exit is granted, teaching digital literacy skills.
